SCIENTIFIC FOTO EXHIBITION:

Scientific photo exhibition under the EngeoPro-2011 conference

«Natural hazards – 2011»

 

The main idea of the exhibition is to show the negative effects of geological processes (engineering, social, environmental) through the pictures. The exhibition will demonstrate relevance and significance of engineering geology for territory protection under natural and anthropogenic hazards and focus attention of young generation on these issues. It is extremely important for the photographs taken to be as informative as possible so that they may be used it in reports, presentations, articles, books and for educational purposes.

 

Better pictures will be posted at the showcase for voting, held during the conference.  A committee will consider the scientific and aesthetic quality of each photograph.

 

The best pictures will be selected in a competition under categories:

1. Endogenous geological (including seismic) hazards

2. Exogenous geological hazards in temperate and warm climates

3. Exogenous geological hazards in cold regions

4. Hydrometeorological hazards

 

Conditions of entry:

 

Submissions must have been photographed by the author. Each participant may submit no more than three photos. High resolution photographs, for poster printing, should be sent with a note "Photo Exhibition Engeopro-2011" to Khalilova Julia at: stanilovskaya@geoenv.ru.  Please include a cover email with the following information: The category of submission, the name of picture, place and date of shooting, author's name, place of job or study, position (if the student - a year of study) and age.

 

Photo exhibition has no age and other restrictions. Participation in the photo exhibition is free.

 

Attention to young researchers! The best pictures of young researchers (under 35 years) will be awarded by Permafrost Young Research Network under the third category. Participants must register on the website http://pyrn.ways.org/user/register. The best pictures of young researchers (under 35 years) will be awarded by Young Earth Scientists Network under the remaining three categories. Participants must register on the website http://www.networkyes.org/index.php/yes_membership_form.

 

The vote counting and award ceremony will take place on the last day of the conference. Winners are awarded diplomas and prizes. The winners, who will be absent at the conference, receive diplomas via e-mail.

 

After the conference photos will be presented in the album «Natural hazards – 2011» (electronic version) on the conference website.

 

Attention!

Taking part in the photo exhibition, the authors thus give permission to use it photographs, store it in a conference database, publication in a photo album, website and other conference materials (with reference to the author). The organizing committee does not adjust the pictures and information about them.
